Two Nobel Laureates Take Part in the 8th Edition of Connecting Healthcare, Dedicated to “The Resilience Code”

Sir Richard J. Roberts and Aaron Ciechanover are among the highlights of the conference promoted by Seal Group, taking place on 29 September at the Porto Cruise Terminal in Leixões, Matosinhos.
Seal Group will host the 8th edition of Connecting Healthcare on 29 September, this year under the theme “The Resilience Code — Decoding the Principles of Human and Organisational Evolution.” The conference will bring together leading national and international figures from the fields of science, healthcare, economics, leadership, creativity and business to reflect on the ability of individuals and organisations to adapt and evolve in a context of growing uncertainty.
Among the main international highlights are two Nobel Laureates, who will take part through contributions specially recorded for the conference. Sir Richard J. Roberts, winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, will lead the “Nobel Opening Reflection: Challenging Certainties”, exploring evidence, critical thinking, the courage to question established assumptions and the ability to adapt.
In the afternoon, Aaron Ciechanover, winner of the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will take part in the “Nobel Conversation — Science, Resilience and the Future: Navigating a World of Change”, in conversation with Sérgio Almeida, founder of Seal Group, addressing science, knowledge, responsibility, technology and the future.
The programme also includes João Pinto, Dean of Católica Porto Business School; Helena Marujo, Mr. Dheo, Fernando Peres, Fernanda Freitas, Ignacio Rubio and Ukrainian singer Sergii Alkin, bringing together perspectives from science, art, sport, human behaviour and personal experiences of overcoming adversity.
The organisational dimension of resilience will be explored in a panel dedicated to the challenges facing resilient organisations, featuring Mariana Pinto Leite, Head of People and Talent at Sogrape; Pedro Mesquita, Managing Director of Fujifilm Portugal and Spain; Jorge Alexandre Ferreira, founder of Quintãs Equestrian Center; and Luís Miguel Ribeiro, President of the Portuguese Business Association (AEP). The panel will be moderated by Diana Bouça Nova, journalist at CNN.
“Resilience is not simply the ability to endure. It is the ability to understand change, learn from adversity and transform knowledge, talent and cooperation into new possibilities. With The Resilience Code, we aim to identify the principles that enable people and organisations to continue evolving in a world undergoing profound transformation,” says Sérgio Almeida, founder of Seal Group and Connecting Healthcare.
The closing session will feature Sérgio Almeida, Nelson Pereira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ULSM, and Luísa Salgueiro, Mayor of Matosinhos. The programme also includes a message from Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, as well as the participation of Portugal’s Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, subject to confirmation.
