INSIDE-OUT LEADERSHIP: How Neuroscience explains purpose

Leaders and organizations with the capacity to inspire all think, act and communicate from the inside-out. They start with their Purpose. When they communicate their mission or cause first, they communicate in a way that drives decision-making and behavior. It literally taps the part of the brain that influences behavior.

The outside of the brain is the Neocortex, is the newest brain or Homo Sapiens brain. It is responsible for all rational and analytical thought and language.

All feelings, emotions, like trust and loyalty, and all human behavior and decision-making, came from the Limbic Brain, for yet it has no capacity for language.

We make decisions using our Limbic System and then rationalize that decision with the part of the brain that can communicate with words, the Neocortex.

In other words, if you are a Leader that communicates from the outside-in, probably people can understand vast amounts of complicated information, like features, benefits, facts and figures.

The big problem, is that simply this kind of leadership does not drive human behavior.

Leaders who act on the basis of coaching, inspire their teams to follow their own purpose, becoming more creative workers.

Just think about it… from the inside-out, of course!
